The incident happened around 2:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16 in Dutchess County at the intersection of Smith Court and Route 9G in Hyde Park.
The buses were both from the Hyde Park School District.
A Hyde Park officer came upon the crash that occurred when a 20-passenger school bus operated by a 47-year-old woman was exiting Smith Court and failed to yield the right of way of a 27-passenger school bus operated by a 60-year-old man, said Hyde Park Police Chief Robert Benson.
The impact caused the 27-passenger bus to roll onto its side. The bus that rolled over was occupied by a 74-year-old bus monitor and two students, 11 and 12-years-old, Benson said.
Four occupants were transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital and one was transported to Vassar Brothers Hospital.
The injuries were non-serious in nature, Benson said.
Route 9G was closed for more than an hour while Brandl’s Towing removed the buses.
